Summer fishing Season has arrived….

Morning all. I have been asked to remind members of the C&R and 3 Fish Kill rule when also Fishing to C&R. If you plan to dispatch up to 3 fish you can ONLY dispatch two fish then you MUST C&R all fish until you have either caught 9 and then you dispatch the 10th. Or it’s your last fish before going home. Members cannot dispatch 3 fish then continue to fish C&R unless you put a second ticket in the box. The reason why you cannot dispatch three and continue to fish C&R is if you deep hook a fish and need to then dispatch it you would have killed 4! Hopefully this clears up any confusion. Tight lines all. Kevin

Fishing report for the weeks of March 2026.

Week 1: Lodge lake. 37 rods fished. 134 fish caught. 44 dispatched. 90 C&R. Lavender lake. 11 rods fished. 66 fish caught. 14 dispatched. 52 C&R. Water temp is 9 degrees. With so many fish caught the list of fly’s taking fish is long…. Wht/Grn cats whisker, humungus buzzer, dial bach, mini snake, blob, small nymph. Best reported fish Peter W. 5lb rainbow.

Week 2: Afternoon all. Your fishing update for the lakes: lodge lake. 28 rods fished. 95 fish caught. Ave 3.96 fish per rod. 24 dispatched. 71 C&R. Lavender lake: 14 rods fished. 85 fish caught. Ave 5 5 fish per rod. 17 dispatched. 68 C&R. Wow…. A great weeks fishing, cannot get much better than these numbers. Water temp is perfect, fish taking. Hatches happening …. Well done all who tested their skills. Best reported fish Hayward F. 6lb and I believe he also had a 4lb fish as well. Both released back safely. George also had that wonderful Brown (picture posted earlier in week) just great to see these being caught as well. And John J also had a 5lb rainbow safely put back. Flies catching. Almost anything when presented correctly. As mentioned quite a few hatches reported. Small black / brownie things. Get the buzzers out time…..
If you have not yet fished since the start of the new season get yourself out there (LOL that goes for me and Stephen club Chairman also ) as fishing is amazing. Please remember. Stay safe around lakes, avoid standing in boats, life vests, and most importantly enjoy…. A note also on getting members to de-Barb your fly boxes. Do it while watch TV one night but get it done rather than get caught when asked by a bailiff or Emin as they check over the weeks to come. Tight lines for the coming week. Emin, your water bailiffs and myself.

Week 3: Good morning all. Your fishing update for the last 7 days. Lodge lake: 30 rods fished. 60 fish caught. 20 dispatched. 40 C&R. Ave 2 fish per rod. Lavender lake: 22 rods fished. 76 fish caught. 20 dispatched. 56 C&R. Ave 3.45 per rod. Water temp is 9.5 degrees. Two fantastic Brown C&R on Lavender. Buzzer doing the deed for Steven G and Tony C a new member landed the other. No note what it was caught on and no pictures have been forwarded…… All the normal flies as previous weeks. The numbers suggest it has been a bit tougher this past week to catch or maybe we get complacent and forget that where can you go and catch fish like we have and in the numbers we have them….. I often talk to carp anglers who fish 24hrs a day for days to report nothing or just one fish! That helps me realise that our lakes are very special and we are so lucky. Nice to see a few more new members out this week. And I believe all caught! Tight lines all. Remember if you are not catching to do something different, move, change depth, change fly or do all three. Even better stop and ask the other members out who are catching. All will help you. Regards. Emin, your water bailiffs, and my self. Kevin

Week 4. posted 27th March… Your fishing update: Lodge Lake. 33 rods fished. 53 fish caught. 15 dispatched. 38 C&R. Lavender lake. 20 rods fished. 74 fish caught. 11 dispatched. 63 C&R. Water temp 10 degrees. Lavender lake yet again this week produced amazing fishing and 3 reported specimen fish C&R. … 2x 8lb monsters by Michael H. And Simon C, and a 5lb C&R by Tony O. Please remember photos for the group when you are having that amazing session. Joe S not to be out done had a wonderful brace of specimen fish also 9lb and 8lb out of Lodge lake. Another day to remember Joe… Flies taking fish. Hawthorn. Spent daddy. Nymphs. Shipman. The every go to fly…. Diawl Bach just never fail when presented to where fish are, buzzers. Hares ear and the Tequila blob. As we come to the end of March it is worth noting we have had yet another outstanding first month of the season. I know there have been members who blanked but the post for Iain F summed up our lakes brilliantly. He blanked one day. Returned on another day, Found fish. Then Found it to easy to catch! So, Went for a coffee and rest then returned to the lake refreshed, tried hard at different location, had to move again to finally catch his max 10 fish. A day I am sure he will talk about to many on many occasions.

So in brief your first months fishing looked like this… Lodge lake has produced to yesterday. 342 fish caught. And Lavender 301 fish caught. Ave across the lakes. Lodge. 2.67 fish per rod that fished. Lavender 4.49 fish per rod that fished. Will still 4 days to go March is going to set yet another new record of fish caught by members, I am sure. Tight lines all. Please be safe while on or around the lakes … safety vests! Watch your step, avoid standing in boats… all the normal reminders please. Hopefully most have now de-barbed their fly boxes and have a great weeks fishing in the next 7 days. Emin, your water bailiffs and myself. Kevin.

Well the start of the season has not disappointed yet again…. The lakes continue to deliver quality fighting fish. As always…. when at the lakes and not catching. Change… tactics, depth, fly, location or all four.

Tight lines for your coming trips to the lakes
